The Saami people are the only indigenous people living in Europe. Band was founded in Vuotso, Finland, in 2005. The current, five-member line up is from November 2007. In the same year the band made a record deal with Tuupa Records Oy and the first album "Čáhppes Lasttat" was released in May 24th 2008. In the spring 2009, SomBy won the Sami Grand Prix –song contest. This made SomBy very popular Sami artist. In Oktober 2009, SomBy got a culture award of Sami Parliament of Finland for promoting the Sami culture and language. SomBy's successful year continued in Netherlands on 31.10.2009, when the band won the Liet International - an international song contest for minority languages in Europe. Single-cd with two new songs was released 2.12.2009. Single hit the official Finnish single chart's top 10. SomBy's debut album "Alas Eana" was released on 24th February 2010. In September 2011 SomBy did an European tour with two Finnish bands, Manzana and Vanity Ink. The tour included gigs in several major cities like Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Warsaw and Bratislava. Currently SomBy is preparing their forthcoming album which will be released in autumn of the year 2013. See you at gigs!
