Before The Dawn saw the daylight in 1999 in Finnish Nastola, as solo-project of multi-talent Tuomas Saukkonen, who often rather prefers to work all by himself in order to achieve his clear vision for his band and his music. Therefore ever-changing line-ups characterize the history of this band, that released 3 albums between the years 2003-2006 ("My Darkness", "4:17 am", "The Ghost"), one DVD ("The First Chapter") and toured with Katatonia and Moonspell in Finland and the Baltic states.
In 2007 Before The Dawn signed with the Finnish record company Stay Heavy Records and released DEADLIGHT, which would be a major turning point in the band..s career. First, a new stable line-up with the Norwegian (clean) vocalist & Bass player Lars Eikind and guitarist Juho Räihä, also the producer of two Before The Dawn albums emerged. Ex-drummer Dani Miettinen returned to the band, and two radio hits (the singles Deadsong and Faithless) made sure that the Before The Dawn had a very busy live schedule in the weeks and months to come.
Determined to keep the fast release schedule, the band entered the studio in the beginning of 2008 to record a follow-up for the epochal and critically acclaimed "Deadlight" album.
Coping with another change in the line-up, the ultimate core crew of Before The Dawn (Tuomas, Lars, Juho) raised the bar to highest level, and the only goal was to outdo all previous albums in songwriting and production. The goal was achieved and the band took some time off from studio, playing summer festivals like Tuska Open Air, and they made their debut at the mighty Wacken Open Air.
The 5th BTD album "SOUNDSCAPE OF SILENCE" will underline the words: commitment, dedication, talent and hard work. 2008-2009 will show a hungry and motivated live band with a session drummer to complete the line-up on stage.

“Deadlight” has been released in Germany and all over Europe, Japan and all over Asia as a special edition version. DEADSONG, Before The Dawn's first single on Stay Heavy Records, entered the Official Finnish Single charts at position No. 2, ahead of such competition as WITHIN TEMPTATION and IRON MAIDEN. DEADSONG is the main theme of Finnish TV-show “Rokkikorjaamo”. This track is also featured in the bestseller video game “Call Of Duty 4” as the main theme of web Modification called “Before The Dawn - Modern Warfare”. The DEADSONG video has had more than 220 000 views on YouTube.
Before The Dawn's second single from the DEADLIGHT album, FAITHLESS, entered the Official Finnish Single Charts at position No. 2, ahead of such big Finnish bands like AMORPHIS and HANOI ROCKS.
Both singles stayed in the Official Single Charts all nine weeks, including a FAITHLESS re-entry for two weeks. The album DEADLIGHT entered the Official Finnish Album Charts position No. 29 and it is ahead of Metal monster METALLICA. DEADLIGHT has been in the charts for all 24 weeks and re-entered the Album Charts precisely one year after the Finnish release date.

Rouheampi riffittely on astetta vähäisempää ja kuulaat melodiat ovat muuttuneet kirkkaammiksi, vieläkin astetta tarttuvammiksi ja jollakin tasolla myös hieman eeppisemmiksi. Muutenkin levyn soundimaailma on isompi kuin Before the Dawnilla koskaan, joten tähän uusia ulottuvuuksia tavoittelevaan junaan on mukava asettua päätepysäkille asti yhä uudestaan ja uudestaan. Still, the first chords of "Dying Sun" had my jaw drop: powerful drumming, blow-away riffs and then this sad glass-clear guitar theme - instant goose-flesh, even before those beautiful lyrics started, that lasted until the last chord of the album. "Klaudia Weber"

Although with a shot HIM's hit feeling (Hide Me) and a shot of Opeth's playfulness (Fabrication) the disk sounds nevertheless strong and heavy as always. These mix is nearly already a warranty for an entering the Finnish Charts. Would have earned that "Bruder Cle"
